The Northeast Louisiana Chapter of the Autism Society of America was founded in 1992 and serves twelve parishes. Our primary goal is to create public awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders including: Autism, PDD-NOS and Asperger=s Syndrome. We have developed an extensive collection of current resources on Autism. A large lending library of materials (books, videos, cassette tapes) is available to families, teachers, students, and professionals from Families Helping Families. [FHF is a parent-driven resource center for families of children with all disabilities. Everyone who works there is the parent of a child with special needs.
The FHF office is located at:
5200 Northeast Road (near the Monroe Airport),
phone (318) 361-0487 or 1-888-300-1320,
e-mail: fhfnela@aol.com

Our chapter has donated books on autism to public libraries in the twelve northeast Louisiana parishes. We make regular donations of journals and books (specific to autism) to the University Library at ULM. The teachers, therapists, and other professionals of tomorrow must have a better understanding of Autism in order to effectively serve those we love.

We provide parent-to-parent support, teach advocacy skills, present seminars and workshops on autism-related topics for anyone interested in learning more about autism. We host family outings, plan social activities for our kids, and publish a quarterly newsletter. We will gladly add anyone (families, teachers, professionals, therapists, and friends) who is interested in autism to our newsletter mailing list.
